Dr Steven Kypraios MB.BS (Melb) FRACP FCSANZ is the director of the Sunshine Coast Cardiology Practice, established in 2011.
Dr Steven Kypraios is a private heart specialist. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. His practice is located at Buderim, on the Sunshine Coast. First and foremost an interventional cardiologist, he is an expert in coronary angioplasty, stenting and angiography. Consequently, he routinely assesses and manages acute chest pain and heart attack. In addition, heĀ performs stress testing, stress echo and echocardiography. Furthermore, he implants pacemakers, and runs a large and comprehensive remote pacemaker clinic.
Dr Kypraios began specialist practice at in 2006. He was the first heart specialist to offer cardiac stenting on the Sunshine Coast. Moreover, he led the development of the interventional cardiology service, as well as the acute heart attack (STEMI) after hours stenting service, at Buderim Private Hospital. As a result, he became the inaugural director of the cardiac catheter laboratories at Buderim Private.
After graduating in Medicine from the University of Melbourne, Dr Kypraios undertook specialist physician training at the Alfred, Frankston and Western Hospitals. Subsequently, he trained in cardiology at Geelong Hospital. He undertook a postgraduate fellowship in interventional cardiology at the University of Western Ontario, in London, Canada. He was admitted as a fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. From 2006 to 2013, Dr Kypraios served as a staff interventional cardiologist at the Prince Charles Hospital. Currently, he is a visiting specialist, in full time private practice, at the Buderim Private Hospital.
